Maxwell Clemence Kaliati is a visionary development leader with 16 years of experience driving transformative programs across Malawi. Before joining Yamba Malawi, Maxwell led program strategy for organizations including Oxfam. He strengthened partnerships and drove operational excellence in areas including governance, advocacy, gender equality, early childhood development, economic empowerment, and Ultra-Poor Poverty Graduation (UPG.)


At Yamba Malawi, Maxwell recently served as Director of Programs, overseeing the successful implementation of key programs. He continued to foster partnerships and operational growth. As Interim Executive Director, Maxwell provides strategic leadership to oversee programs, operations, and staff, ensuring impactful delivery and sustainable growth.


Maxwell holds a Bachelor of Social Science from Chancellor College, University of Malawi, and is currently pursuing an MBA in Organizational Leadership, further equipping him with advanced strategic thinking and leadership skills. A results-driven leader, he excels in program management, stakeholder engagement, and financial accountability. His commitment to transparent resource management ensures donor confidence and measurable impact.

 
 
 
 

Melissa Kushner founded Yamba Malawi, formerly goods for good, in 2006 with the mission of uplifting vulnerable children and empowering communities to break the cycle of poverty.

Melissa is a Global Citizen Award recipient, has been featured on Cool Hunting’s inaugural CH25 list, The Jewish Week’s 36 under 36, and the Empact100 list. She has been named an American Express NGen Fellow, awarded the Young Entrepreneur for the World by the World Entrepreneurship Forum, and received the Torch Award and Distinguished Young Alumna Award from New York University. Melissa has also been featured in numerous publications, including Forbes, USA Today, and Elle, was featured on NBC’s Nightly News, and has presented at the TEDx Atlanta Conference.

Melissa received her Masters in Public Administration from New York University, and Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Studies from the University of Pennsylvania.
